Parks & Nature

Harrison Park is an urban dream, with more than 40 hectares of streams, trails, gardens, playgrounds, forest and green space, right in the heart of the city. Often called our “jewel in the crown,” the park features dining and recreation facilities, a full-service campground, boat rentals, a bird sanctuary, mini-putt, basketball courts, pools, and an open-air rink. Its network of trails leads through forest, fields and streams to Inglis Falls, and connects directly with the Bruce Trail on the Niagara Escarpment. Our resident swans and their offspring will delight all ages, along with the many other species of birds frolicking and sunning themselves in our ponds and river.

Adults – $10.00 • Ages 3 to 12 – $5.00 • 2 and under – Free • Cash Only Enjoy your self-guided exploration of 10 limestone caves in the peace and tranquility of singing birds and rustling leaves along the rugged trails where scenes of Quest for Fire and Against the Wild were filmed, all in about a hour or two, but come prepared with GOOD hiking shoes with a good tread, as the rocks may be moist and slippery. You will also need a flashlight for some parts of the caves. Binoculars will be a good idea to get a better view from the trail above the caves affords breathtaking views about 300 feet above the sparkling waters of Georgian Bay. Very important also is to have comfortable clothing when climbing around the caves.

The Corran was once a beautiful seventeen room stone mansion overlooking Colpoy’s Bay constructed and owned by Hester and Alexander McNeil. The mansion was destroyed by a fire and later purchased by the Sauble Valley Conservation Authority in 1976. Crumbled stone walls surrounded by wildflowers and vegetation still remain making this a perfect place to hike, picnic and even swim if you venture down the spiral staircase to the waters of Georgian Bay below.
