This creative & beginner-friendly workshop will take place in our backyard greenhouse patio, surrounded by fresh air and plants. Each participant will receive a unique & portable terracotta pot to paint & customize using a natural & locally-harvested Cochinilla Dye made from scratch by the shop's owner and founder, Andi Xoch, as well as a small plant to take home! We’ll begin with a fun introductory exercise & a brief history on our business & Cochinilla dye, which has ancient origins in the Americas. We’ll explain how to use the provided materials & show you some finished samples; as we guide you through the design & painting process, everyone will get an opportunity for one-on-one tips as you sketch your ideas & dive into painting. While our pots dry, we’ll answer any questions & share our favorite local spots around Boyle Heights, most within walking distance! You can also browse our shop's selection of plants, florals, & original artwork. All guests will receive a 20% discount. Kickstart your day with a sunrise hike that climbs 800 feet to a ridgeline with breathtaking views of Boulder Valley, the Flatirons, and the plains beyond. • The moderate (strenuous for some) hike on Hogback Ridge Trail will lead you to the top of the first hill where plains meet mountains, just as the sun appears to the east. You'll then loop back across an easy, grassy slope. • You’ll learn why this trail was the first one selected for my book, Moon Colorado Hiking, a travel guide that highlights 75 day hikes in Colorado. • Descending the peak, keep your eyes peeled for deer, hawks, and the occasional coyote. You’ll leave with beta on NoBo coffee shops and an insider’s tip on where to find Boulder’s best post-hike breakfast burrito. Note: Be prepared for a solid loop hike which begins with a rather steep ascent (over 800 feet elevation gain); sturdy footwear are recommended. This cruise will depart from Knights Landing and include a fabulous nature experience on the way to lunch at Cabbage Key. You'll see the old fishing village of Bokeelia and then cruise the fabulous wilderness of Jug Creek. Dolphin sightings are common in these waters. We will transit Back Bay, Dead Man's Curve, and view the mansion built by the battery magnate, Charles Burgess. Once we exit the Creek, we head across Pine Island Sound past Useppa Island and the world famous Baron Collier Inn, before landing at Cabbage Key. There you can walk the nature trails of the historic island and climb the water tower. You will have an hour and a half to enjoy lunch in the Old House, Cabbage Key's open air restaurant. Following your meal, we will cruise back to Knights Landing. Other things to note This experience will involve getting into and out of a boat at a dock. Payment for the meal at Cabbage Key is not included.

Aloha and Welcome as we gather around the information table at Sharkey's 100-year old farmhouse in the historic plantation village of Papaikou. Sample our freshly brewed coffee, cacao or hibiscus tea and goodies. From there we begin an easy walk through our 'mother' orchard where you'll learn about the growth, challenges and production of coffee, cacao and vanilla. Depending on the season, you can see how tiny flowers transform into large, multi-colored pods. Long vanilla vines grow up the cacao trees, creating nature's perfect trellis! We'll show you how each vanilla orchid is delicately hand-pollinated to produce "hands" of vanilla beans. We proceed to the "Slab" where freshly harvested pods are 'cracked' before the fermentation process begins. Taste the sweet, white fruit straight from the pod. Next, we move into the greenhouse where flats of newly planted seedlings just beginning their journey grow alongside large screens filled with coffee and cacao beans slowly drying to perfection. Weather back up plan-don’t worry we will see cows.. but will replace hike with the historic farmhouse tour listed under our experiences. We will meet at front of farm house. We will start at the top of the field walking around our pastures, checking our fences along way enjoying the peacefulness that nature brings and heading into the forest and around the pastures up hills and forest where our highland cows reside. Sharing with you about out breed of cows and what they are known for. We will explore how they interact with each of us their mannerisms and irresistible cuteness. While circling the pastures we have other animals you may interact with that include 5 Scottish highland cows and their calves who were born during the year, our goats &livestock guardian dogs. We will end our visit at the west pasture sharing treats with the animals and petting the cows. My Pet Backyard Chicken

Hello dear! My name is Olga, I am a chicken keeper and your ultimate crazy chicken...whisperer. I want to introduce you to My Backyard Chicken experience so you are aware of what you are getting yourself into because before you know it, you may end up with 10+ chickens in your backyard. FYI, the chickens are a gateway into homesteading. So what to expect from this experience besides getting addicted to chickens? First, I will meet you in front of my house which is red brick with a picket fence. The whole experience is outdoors so dress accordingly. After, we will head out to the backyard. Here is a little breakdown of your 1.5 hours of experience in three parts of 30 minutes each. However, don't worry about a structure so much, in this sense, we are fluid. Part 1. You will learn how to tend to chickens: water, shelter, and feed. Learn about basic behaviors, facts, free-ranging, egg laying, breeds, predators, cleaning routine, coop build, life hacks, memes, etc. Observe chickens in their natural environment, meaning outside the “cage”. Think of yourself as Jane Goodal of Chickens. Part 2. Unsupervised time with chickens! Take pictures and hold the ones that are willing to be held. Part 3. Tea Time & Cookies.
