Great views from a shortish walk to the top. Variety of routes up and down available. Stop off at Ford Park cafe for a cuppa afterwards whilst enjoying their lovely garden.
Built in 1850 the Hoad is a 100ft scale replica of the Eddystone lighthouse erected to commemorate Sir John Barrow, a founder member of the Royal Geographic Society, who was born in Ulverston. Originally costing just £1250 when it was built, in 2009/10 it underwent a £1.2m renovation restoring this Grade II listed building to its former glory.
An absolute must whilst visiting, excellent panoramic views of the town and famous Bay.
Fantastic walk to the top of Hoad Hill brings you to the Sir John Barrow Monument, that's right it is a monument not a lighthouse. l Lovingly know locally as The Pepperpot - if you are lucky the monument is open to visitors to climb to enjoy the fantastic views....take heed if you are not a fan of heights this might not be for you. Outside the 360 views over to Barrow, Lancashire and beyond are simply breathtaking. Two ways to thw top, one shorter but steeper or the longer easier way round. All take in some fantastic sights
