Gaetano Donizetti was born in 1797 is a place of historical and cultural value, in 1926 declared a national monument. The oldest part (the areas inhabited by the Donizetti) dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries and has retained its original appearance: an ideal background to imagine everyday uses and behaviors of the past. Since 2009, after an intervention that has made it all accessible, Casa Natale is open to the public free of charge.

with bus line 1 to Colle Aperto or on foot through the funicular ladder and via tre Armi, you arrive to borgo Canale. Here is Donizetti's birthplace. Ask at the entrance for headphones and listen to the voice of the Master who narrates the daily life of the family.
