Unfortunately not nearly as good as the Calgary Zoo, but still a fun family outing.

First zoo I ever went to. not as big as Calgary Zoo. but will eat an entire day to see the whole thing. I made the mistake of wearing heels the first time I went. ouch! I was told it was small!

Nestled on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is a small and intimate zoo that provides authentic and engaging animal experiences. Over the past few years, capital investment from the City of Edmonton has supported the important work of the zoo. We are working hard to create a vibrant new zoo with improved habitats, better opportunities for guests to closely interact with animals, and state-of the-art research and education facilities.

More than 350 spectacular animals, including arctic wolves, red pandas and pythons call the Edmonton Valley Zoo home, making it a must-see for families. The zoo is a fun and informative place for children to marvel at the majesty of nature and learn about the importance of conservation.

You will have to hop into your car to get to the zoo but it’s worth it ! We love visiting the zoo year round. Lucy the Elephant is our favourite friend to visit here !
