The national recreation area offers forested mountains, scenic rivers, and grassy beaches. Miles of trails are accessible including the Appalachian Trail. Scenic points of interest include waterfalls and high elevation mountain views. Fishing, kayaking, hiking, and biking are among the many activities available for visitors. We recommend the Dingmans Falls trails.

Bike along the Delaware River, past fields and through forests in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Cycling is a popular form of recreation in the park. The McDade Recreational Trail, a packed gravel path, parallels the Delaware River on the Pennsylvania side of the park for 32 miles and most is perfect for mountain and hybrid bikes (closed to biking between White Pines and Pittman Orchard trailheads). Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the McDade Recreational Trail.

Bordering Milford to the south is the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This 70,000-acre protected area contains 40 miles of the Delaware River, nine impressive waterfalls, and roughly 150 miles of trails maintained by the National Park Service, including 28 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
