Checkout the desert in bloom during the spring in Arizona. Also a great spot for birdwatching and hiking.

Worth the drive! Dramatic setting at the base of Picketpost Mountain. Enjoy the walk and enjoy the many plant varieties of the native Sonoran Desert..

Head east mid-morning, pick up a picnic lunch on the way, and enjoy hours of walking in nature. This is a lovely place with paths through several types of landscapes. There are picnic tables under the trees and many places to sit, listen to the birds and the wind in the trees, and find the sense of calm you came here for. Find the bridge for a fun photo to remember your time here.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum is the largest and oldest botanical garden in the state of Arizona. It is one of the oldest botanical institutions west of the Mississippi. Founded in 1924 as a desert plant research facility and “living museum”. It is beautiful and well worth a visit (and the location of our wedding!). There a couple of hiking trails around the park. It is located about 30 mins east of us.
