St James’s Park includes The Mall and Horse Guards Parade, and is surrounded by landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Whitehall. The park’s famous flower beds at the front of Buckingham Palace are a familiar backdrop to pageants including Trooping the Colour, as well as state visits and other ceremonial occasions. Enjoy impressive views of the lake and fountain from St James’s Café, watch the resident pelicans at feeding time, or while away a sunny afternoon in a deckchair. Did you know? Pelicans have lived in St James’s Park for nearly 400 years. They were originally presented as a gift from the Russian Ambassador to King Charles II. St James’s Park is one of London’s eight Royal Parks and covers an area of nearly 57 acres.

Really close to the flat, its a beautiful park (the queens garden) with a lake and lots of wildlife. Walking around it takes you past Buckingham palace, Green Park, The Mall, up to Whitehall and Trafalgar Square.

London has more parks than any other metropolis in the world. St James park is right in the centre and it’s probably the most beautiful one of them all. You can combine it within your walking sightseeing tour of Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. Nearest stations Charring Cross and Westminster.

A walk through St James's park is the best way to get to Buckingham Palace. Make your way to the foot bridge over the lake for the best views including Buckingham Palace, Horseguards & The London Eye.
