Kalami- Izdine Fortress East of the port of Souda, on the sea near the village of Kalami, 15 kilometers from Chania, is the Izidin Fortress, built in 1872. Eleftherios Venizelos was later imprisoned in his dungeons for 15 days, during the dictatorship of Theodore. In 1924, a large number of political dissidents had the same fate. Today you can watch concerts and other events on the bastions of the fortress.
