If you're on the North coast when you're on the Hwy., turn on Sycamore and drive for about 10 minutes. When you walk towards the ocean you will see the most majestic sights ever...a huge self/standing rock with a blowhole in the middle and water crashing through it. The water is really rough so only the most experienced swimmers should venture into the water. It's a wonderful experience to kick back and take it all in.

Gorgeous white and sometimes red-streaked sand, magnificent rock outcrops; $10 to park there now.
This place is magical and an excellent sampling of what Big Sur has to offer. Bring a jacket or dress in layers, it can be a bit windy and cold. Good place to take pictures and have a picnic.
In Novermber through February, the sun sets through the hole in the huge rock to form the beam of light. I took the picture in the living room from that beach. For an easy hike, go to Point Lobos to enjoy some of the beautiful coastline.
