It was built at the request of Prince Shotoku's mother, Empress Anahobe. The elegantly smiling Bosatsu Han Kashi statue is considered one of the “three biggest smiles in the world” along with Mona Lisa. 聖徳太子の母・穴穂部間人皇后の願い によって創建された。優雅にほほ笑む 本尊の菩薩半跏像（寺伝では如意輪 観音）は、モナリザなどと並ぶ「世界の 三大微笑像」のひとつとされる。 拝観料金/ Admission fee 600 yen（法隆寺拝観者 は500 yen） 営業時間/ Opening hours 9時～16時30分（10月1日～ 3月20日は～16時）
