Excellent Afghan food and cocktails in one of the most beautiful restaurant spaces in town. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. They have a small patio and a nice weekend brunch. Try the aushak (leek dumplings topped with veggies or beef, split peas, and garlic yogurt)! They also have a separate-entrance basement coffee, lunch and cocktail shop, Lapop, open Wednesday-Sunday.

Lapis is a must-visit when in DC to try delicious Afghan food! And the best part is that it is literally right around the corner. Great options for all and excellent service. On weekends the line can be long so either make a reservation or get there early to put your name on the list.

A modern Afghan restaurant in Adams Morgan that will not disappoint your palette! Perfect place for couples, families, large groups, or just dining alone. Afghan food is very popular in itself, but this place offers the experience that many restaurants can't - from the unique Afghan decor to its food presentation to its locally sourced ingredients. There's also a downstairs level where you will find more Afghan original art, decor, and great ambience. You can't go wrong with any of the menu choices but my personal favorites are the Sambosa Trio, the pumpkin & potato Bolani, aush (Afghan stew), and mixed grill with rice. Favorite dessert: Orange pound cake! Reservations strongly advised.
