The Feria de Mataderos, or Mataderos fair, brings the Argentine countryside to the city, and offers a glimpse of the country's history and traditions. Located in Mataderos neighbourhood, opposite the old Mercado Nacional de Hacienda (National Livestock Market, where cattle arrived from the Pampas to be checked and sold for consumption), the market attracts around 15,000 people every weekend with up to 700 stands selling gaucho crafts like mates, ponchos, blankets and silver and leather goods, as well as traditional regional cuisine like locro, empanadas and tamales. The market is also worth a visit for its artistic displays - there are often music and dance performances.

Argentine folklore music and dances at its best. In the streets everyone dancing, singing. Also horses games! Just unique for your local gaucho experience. Great national and regional food.
