The home was built in 1877 for John Guion, who served as San Saba county judge and was president of the Texas A&M board of directors from 1914-1918.

For the wine connoisseurs, Wines of Dotson-Cervantes Vineyard and Tasting Room is 2 miles up the road off 1851.
