It was his grandson who built the house in 1539, after requesting authorization from Emperor Charles V to found an estate with the town of Castril and other possessions, following his grandfather's will.It became the property of Professor Leopoldo de Eguilaz in 1892 and the State bought it in 1923. Initially, the Archaeological Museum of Granada, the Museum of Fine Arts (later moved to the Palace of Carlos V) and the Academy were located here. of Fine Arts Our Lady of Sorrows (now in the Madraza). The beautiful Casa de Castril is built around a quadrangular patio and a garden in the back with outbuildings for the servants. From the upper floor you have beautiful views of the Alhambra.
