The north entrance to the Forbidden City is just a couple minute walk from our door. Originally built in the early 1400s, it served as the home to the emperor and seat of power for five centuries.

Since Fan Dian took over as curator in 2005 the museum has improved immensely and has some really great exhibitions coming through now. Check their site: www.namoc.org.

A pristine, peaceful and not-too-crowded Beijing historical site on a beautiful tree-lined street. This site is definitely worth stopping by. Guozijian was the center of China's exam system.

A good Beijing roast duck place with solid classic homestyle dishes. This location is a bit expensive (especially the beer), but in nice weather the outdoor tables right on the lake are worth it.
