Kampa is a false island on the Vltava River in Malá Strana (the Lesser Town), from which it is separated by an artificial mill race named Čertovka (Devil’s Stream). Kampa got its current area and shape in 1541 when rubble from the fire of Malá Strana and Hradčany was taken there. For more information about the history of the island, click here.
The most sought-after attraction on Kampa is the so-called Lennon Wall, where people from all over the world honour John Lennon, the murdered member of the Beatles. Today, there is an important museum of modern art, the Museum Kampa – the Jan and Meda Mládek Foundation.
