Food Scene

Very good, traditional Japanese slow food (not sushi). This is a great restaurant and a real (almost) undiscovered gem that is only a few feet from our house.

Maggi is awesome and she and her mom cook most of the food. It is excellent vegan food, but all the recipes are based on traditional home-cooked Greek food. You can take the food to go and the coffee is good too!

Essentials

Québec is a little old-fashioned with its laws around alcohol. You have to go to a speciality store to get good wine or the hard stuff (oddly you can get great beer in any corner store). Our little SAQ (Société d'Alcool du Québec) is a really well-curated spot. They have a special corner in the back of the store where they have their recommended wines… go there, ask their advice; it's good. Open until 10 PM.

Drinks & Nightlife

Honey Martins is a traditional Irish pub in what used to be a mostly Irish neighbourhood. Great place to talk. They have really good live music every night of the week.

Parks & Nature

This is the centre of our hood. Great things happen in NDG park. Lots of things for kids like splash parks, playground… trees. A very nice little spot.

We call it a mountain… which it obviously is not, but it does provide an amazing view of the city and it is a great place to observe the mingling of cultures in Montreal. There is a great walk from the Belvedere along the top of the southern escarpment that provides one continuous, bird's-eye-view of the downtown core.
