Beautiful views, well marked walk, some construction with sandstone blocks. Spectacular cliffside views with 900 metre drops, winding stairways into shaded rocky outcrops of the Valley of Waters. Steep and challenging walk out via the Wentworth Falls staircase. Twenty minute drive to Wentworth Falls, Start on Darwins Track or drive through to the conservation hut. Leave nothing behind, take only memories and photos with you, carry your own water .

Really great views of Blue Gum Valley Forest from steep pinnacle. Take steep ladders to the viewing platform. Access from Govetts Leap which has parking, and walk (allow 1-1/2 hours in, same on return, expect some scrambling). Or, if open, drive along Pulpit Rock Road and walk the rest of the way. ( not so much walking). Check the national Parks websites to check which roads and/or track is open as rehabilitation work is ongoing after fires, landslides, etc.

A short drive along Hat Hill Road that segues into Perrys Lockdown Road. Dusty, winding potholed drive. Take the left fork ( unmarked) to Anvil Rock Road. Short walk to Anvil Rock or the wind eroded rock. Particularly beautiful in the early evenings, quite often windy and wet.

Hat Hill
The walks are recovering after the massive bushfires of 2019; however, the cicadas are still alive and singing so see how many shells you can spot on the trees amongst the colourful rhododendrons. A frog pond, forest walks, local volunteers , a pleasure to sit and view a native acreage dotted with colourful flowering shrubbery.

Go to trail hiking dot com. Look for Pierces Pass Blue gum forest to Perrys lookdown. Also try wild walks dot com and look for Perrys Lookdown to Lockley's Pylon. Explore these websites and observe all local warnings and guidelines. Do not attempt unless you are physically able and experienced. If I only want a day walk I time my walk 'in' to estimate the time it will take me to walk out. If I don't have time to get to destination before the sun is going to set I just try again another day. Remember, the sun will set earlier for you if you are walking in a deep valley. This is not an exhaustive list or guide. Many inexperienced walkers get lost and fall down cliffs on a regular basis. When you see a helicopter flying in the mountains or hovering it is because they are performing a rescue, or searching. You will get alerts on your phones when this is happening. DO NOT attempt a walk beyond your capability and DO NOT do a walk without due diligence and research prior.

Food scene

BEST pastries savoury, sweet. Drive to Wentworth Falls Lake and eat while you watch the ducks and the dogs and the kayaks wend though the hanging swamp gardens. Really excellent for smaller children, walks, play stuff.
