Fabulous dog-friendly cafe. Perfect for brunch (we recommend the french toast with bacon & maple syrup, or the scarmbled -eggs on toast with cheese) or a post-hike cake and hot chocolate. Most of the large framed pictures in our house were bought in the gallery based inside here - they're by two local photographers who you can normally find in the cafe having a cake and a natter! The cafe also sells dinky maps of the area with some good walks on.

Nice dog-friendly pub in the village. Was good quality hearty pub grub. Recently changed ownership and we haven't tried it since so can't say if it's any good. Let us know what it's like if you do try it!

Sightseeing

The cafe/bar is great for evening or daytime drinks (and some food) with a stunning view of the Snowdon horseshoe if the weather's being kind. Dogs are welcome. Also a fabulous swimming/paddleboarding lake and lovely, shady dog walks through the forest. This is the main start of a circular walk up Siabod too - get a map at Siabod cafe. You can park in the layby on the left just after Plas y Brenin (overlooking the lake), or in Plas y Brenin car park itself if it's not busy.

Easy 2 hour walk on a path up to and then around the lake. Stunning views of Idwal slabs, Devils kitchen, Tryfan and surrounds. Parking very busy so worth getting there very early or going in the evening.

Snowdon is on a lot of people's tick lists when they come here to visit. There are seven different routes to the summit. The most popular routes up are the Miners and Pyg tracks from Pen y Pass (car parking pre-booking in advance essential) or the Llanberis path. The quieter paths are generally harder but quieter and more beautiful. For example, the Watkin path which goes past the stunning pools where you can have a dip on the way up and down.
