(Portinscale). Possibly our favourite place to go for breakfast/ lunch in Cumbria. Best enjoyed after hiking up Catbells or just to visit their resident Lamars! Famous as a Summer resting place for Beatrix Potter, Lingholm’s location is worth a visit in itself. Park here for routes up to Catbells (worth the £5 if you eat in the cafe afterwards as you get reimbursed.)

(Cockermouth). Independently owned coffeehouse, The Moon & Sixpence, on main street in Cockermouth is hard to beat and is top of our list for best coffee locally. In warmer seasons you’ll find their coffee van #brewwithaview galavanting around buttermere and crummock, perfect fuel before a vertical hike.

(Cockermouth). A hidden gem of Cockermouth! literally very hidden – just off Station Street, this Speakeasy Gin & Cocktail Bar is the perfect place to start, or end a special evening out. They serve delicious cheese boards and a great Espresso Martini, made with espresso from our favourite local coffeehouse, The Moon & Sixpence.

(Loweswater). Every local’s favourite. Cosy and intimate atmosphere with great classic pub food, ask to be seated near the fire in the evening or take in the magnificent view of Melbreak from the pub garden on brighter days. If you’re an Amber Ale drinker, Loweswater Gold will go down very well! There are many local walks to be enjoyed from here; around Loweswater and Crummock or if you’re feeling more energetic head upto Melbreak/Low Fell/Burnbank/Carling Knot/Gavel for great views.
