(Portinscale). Possibly our favourite place to go for breakfast/ lunch in Cumbria. Best enjoyed after hiking up Catbells or just to visit their resident Lamars! Famous as a Summer resting place for Beatrix Potter, Lingholm’s location is worth a visit in itself. Park here for routes up to Catbells (worth the £5 if you eat in the cafe afterwards as you get reimbursed.)

There are many local walks to be enjoyed from here; around Loweswater and Crummock or if you’re feeling more energetic head upto Melbreak/Low Fell/Burnbank/Carling Knot/Gavel for great views.
