🌿Монастырь считается одним из древних на Крите. Находиться он в живописном месте на юге недалеко от деревни Венерато.
🌿Храм повящён Успению Пресвятой Богородицы и является действующим с начала византийского периода.
В годы турецкого господства стал жертвой необычного зверства со стороны турок, монастырь был сожён и из 70-и монахинь спаслись только трое. Реставрирован в конце 19-го века, после чего последовал новый период расцвета.
🌿Именно в Палиани находиться Святая Миртья, многовековый мирт.Согласно преданию, в его стволе была найдена икона Богородицы. Это ещё один пример подтверждения древнего культа священных деревьев, который процветал на Крите в миноический период.
🌿Церковь монастыря представляет собой трёхнефную базилику и является одной из древнейших на Крите. Дворик монастыря уютный и благоухающий цветами и растениями. По
воскресеньям , после службы , монахини монастыря угощают прихожан ароматным греческим кофе.

Archaeological Site of Agia Triada

During the Minoan era, Matala was the port of the city of Festos, one of the main centers of the Minoan civilization. Later, according to archaeologists, in I-II AD. the caves of Matala were used as tombs.
In the 70s of the XX century, hippies from all over the world settled in this paradise. Music festivals were held here.
The Greek movie about hippies "My Aunt the Hippie" was filmed here. Even the musicians of the Rolling Stones came here, making it even more popular.
The local beach of Matala is awarded the "Blue Flag of Europe" from year to year. The purest water in the sea and the gentle sun do not leave indifferent the guests of this place. The beach is well equipped. There are sunbeds and umbrellas, a shower, a rescue point, a cafe to satisfy your hunger or thirst.
To the north of Matala there is Kommos beach - a wild, sandy beach, without sunbeds and umbrellas. The sea here is dangerous, but very beautiful.
Kokkinos Pyrgos is a place chosen by lovers of sunbathing naked.. lovers of romance and solitude ... And the sunsets here are just crazy...

Today I will tell you about another fabulous place in Crete. So - Lendas is a little-known place for tourists. Unique beaches with crystal clear waters attract with their magnificence and strength. The fact is that during the time of ancient Greece, there was Asklepion (health resort), holy springs, and the temple of Hygieia from the 15th century BC, but during our era it was abandoned due to piracy. The holy spring has survived to this day.
🌊Lendas is located on the southern slopes of the Asterusia (star) mountains, 74 km from the city of Heraklion, on the coast of the Libyan Sea. Arriving ships, you can stay overnight in a small apartment from 30 € per day. There are not far away beautiful beaches, diving sites - Discos, Limaniki. Visiting this place you will feel its healing power. Eh! I always wonder how the ancients could choose such places? And what knowledge they had! ☝️
