Tucked into the very cute downtown Ontonagon, the UP North Cafe is just what you would expect from a little diner. Hot coffee, good sandwiches, and ever-so charming locals.

If you are planning to stay awhile and would like to stock up on some local, organic produce and goodies, we recommend heading to the Keweenaw Co-op. Our local grocery store is just fine, but they have plenty of exotic fruit and local produce if you are a culinary fan. They also have a small deli in the back to prepare sandwiches for the drive.

Whether it is summer or winter, the Porcupine Mountains are a beautiful place to visit. The Ski area has plenty of groomed runs and some backcountry skiing or snowboarding. Check the website for seasonal hours.

When the weather is right, or you have a snowmobile, Bond Falls is a gorgeous outdoor attraction. With cascading waterfalls, this is surely a gorgeous hike. Check seasonal availability because the trails close down in the winter.

Ontonagon's public beach is just about a ten minute drive northeast on M-64. Even in the winter the views are spectacular, just dont forget to bundle up.

If you are into the thrill of snowmobiling, than Ontonagon is your place. All winter long people come and go and take to the riding trails for some winter fun. Although there are not trails right outside our door, you could trailer your snowmobiles to the trail heads. Here is an official trail map for reference.

Bonanza falls is 'just around the corner' from the cottage, or about a 7 minute drive. These water falls are definitely on the smaller side with not intensive hiking surrounding, but worth a stop-in to check out the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula.

The Upper Peninsula is rich with natural resources and the mines played a huge role in accessing those. If you wanna feel like you’re traveling back in time and experiencing the industry of the area, we highly recommend this!

If the UP has anything, it's beautiful waterfalls. Agate Falls is about a 40 minute drive from the cottage and is well worth it. You could even hit Bond Falls in the same day!

If you want to stretch your legs and take a short hour-ish ride to Ironwood, make sure you stop by Dan's Antiques for some shopping. This place is packed full of treasures and not of the typical souvenir kind.

A small college town about an hour northeast, Houghton is a good half way point between Copper Harbor with more shops and restaurants than Ontonagon. There is definitely a buzzing college town vibe in Houghton.

Ironwood is about an hour-ish southwest on Ontonagon and has a little more going on than our downtown. If you need essentials from Walmart, or just want to swing by the antique shop, it is definitely fun checking out the neighboring small town.
