MUST SEE in Leeuwarden. The 200 yr old crooked tower. You can visit it at 11:00-17:00 to go up the steep stairs to the top and get a nice view of the city.
The surrounding square has history behind it: It was built on ancient graves!

The old prison called: Blockhousegate.
Nice place to stroll around in. The library recently moved there and a little bit further into the courtyard, you can find little shops and workshops being done in what used to be prison cells.
