Spartanburg’s arts community runs deep
Downtown Spartanburg was named the state’s second Cultural District in 2015 by the S.C. Arts Commission.
The Spartanburg Downtown Cultural District is about four square blocks from Barnet Park to Spartanburg Community College’s Downtown Campus on Kennedy Street, west from Kennedy Street to the Grain District, and bordered on the north by Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. A “Cultural District” is designed by state law as a specific geographical area in a city or town with a concentration of cultural facilities, activities and assets.
