I spent a year living in Paris and this bakery does authentic croissants and pastries. I'm obsessed with the almond croissants that are are an homage to butter. The chocolate croissants, brownie bites and eclairs are also wonderful. I used to lose weight and eat healthy in Sayulita and then this place opened up....

Fantastic hipster cafe. A coffee shop were Sayulita meets Venice beach. Try the chilaquiles here, they are my favorite. Also quiet place to work on a laptop but it gets crowded in the afternoon with digital nomads.

Ivan's taco is an institution here in Sayulita. They are most famous for their pastor tacos. People who don't like pork are quickly converted when they try these tacos. These are street tacos so places to sit are limited. I usually bring a drink and sit in the plaza to people watch.

Best food on the beach. I recommend for lunch on the beach or dining to the sounds of waves. This is one of the fancier restaurants in town so prepare to pay a bit more but the food is excellent. Make reservations for holidays. On Monday nights, they clear the tables and have a large salsa party.

If you need tacos in the middle of the day this is the place to go. They are famous for their itacate, which is a burrito but instead tortilla they use grilled cheese. If you love cheese then you have to try. I definitely feel my arteries clogging as I eat it but it is oh so good.

When you want tacos for breakfast is the spot to try. Popular with the surfers, they have multiple meat fillings that you just point to and they fill it up with fresh steamed tacos.

New Italian restaurant that is very popular just at the base of the bridge. Owner is from Lombardi Italy and food is very authentic. Love love the cacio e pepe! though was not impressed with the baked goods they offered next door and the tiramisu at Marcolio is better.

Hands down BEST pasta and pizza in Sayulita. The pasta is so fresh it is made to order. The pizza are most authentic Napoli style you will find as good bread is hard to find. Leave room for the tiramisu! If you come after 9:30 you get to enjoy the live music across the street at Atico bar.

Really great ramen in the jungle?!?! Even the gyoza and edamame are delicious. Great for any time you need something besides Mexican or feeling under the weather. Current location is shared with cocktail bar Mucho Bueno on 10 Jose Mariscal.

The location is across the street from Yambak brewery on the corner. Like most street tacos it is only available in the evening. This place has the best arrachera (steak) tacos in town (better than Ivan's I think) The vegetarian tacos are really good, they char them a little on the grill so that have a grilled flavor. Pro tip: ask for cheese in your taco. They melt it on the grill and it is good.

Rule #1 never eat seafood from vendors on the beach.

This goes for all of Mexico not just Sayulita. Save yourself the discomfort and pain.

List of all recommended places in Sayulita

Here is a link to my saved list in google maps of all my favorites places in Sayulita. It is mainly restaurants, cafes, but also some beaches and where exactly to catch the uber when leaving PVR airport. Please note lots of small restaurants close during low season so they may not be open all-year around. https://www.google.com/maps/@20.8165182,-105.3941528,12z/data=!4m2!11m1!2s1K7vd7jKVEkYDKg5Bhmn9nt2Wjz0
Facilidad para moverse por la casa

transportation options from PVR

There are three options to get to Sayulita from the PVR airport 1) airport taxi 2) uber or 3) bus. The airport taxi is the most expensive at almost triple the cost of an uber. An uber is about 350-450 pesos depending on demand that day. The bus is about 25 pesos per person and takes the longest. I would recommend taking an uber. The trick for the uber is you have to leave the airport and take the pedestrian bridge over to the other side of the road. Just ask for the bus (Compostela) and folks will direct you where to go. The uber pickup is just after the bus stop.

Rule # 2 Don't eat from a place without running water

Only eat from taco/food stands that have a kitchen they are attached to unless it is dessert like Churros or crepes. If they don't have running water they cant clean properly and can get cross contamination or salmonella easily.
