Skate the Lake Portland
International Big Rideau Lake Speed Skating Marathon, also known as Skate the Lake, was first hosted in 2004 and has brought skaters and spectators from around the world to the small village of Portland, Ontario, Canada. Each year we build a 1km oval on Big Rideau Lake and host speed skating races of varying distances to appeal to amateur and professional skaters, young and young at heart.
