A local gem in the Excelsior. California inspired Cajun food which hits the spot without hitting the pocket book.

It's either the best gay-themed sports bar or the best sports-themed gay bar in the City. It's clean, friendly, drinks are good, food is good and they have just about as many TV's as can fit in a place.

Upscale modern italian. It's a bit pricey but the happy hour is a great deal and the food is worth it no matter what.

An old school institution. The menu is basic because they focus on the food. It's fresh, it's tasty, it's fun, and it feels like New England in their cute-as-a-button parklet.

Quick and easy Banh Mi, but also a nice fried egg bagel and French pastries. San Francisco is a melting pot and this place proves it.

Sometimes people say the New York Times is overblown and overrated. This is one of their favorite SF restaurants. We challenge you to go there, have a Scotch Egg, have some bone marrow, have one of their too-long-crafted-but-worth-it cocktails and tell us again how the NYT doesn't know their stuff. This place is great. It's a youth neighborhood and this place is loud - put on your 20-something boots, remember Freshman year, be cool and just enjoy your life.

It's named for the Grateful Dead, they make their own beer in the basement, they buy their meet from a small farm, they love to make food and beer and then they sell both to you. It's a match made in heaven and the place is beautiful too. We like that the alternative meat burger tastes as good as the beef. Enjoy yourself and save the planet while doing it.

Good sausages, good beer, niche TV and movies in the heart of the "Old Mission". It's a tight spot for hipsters, locals, bike messengers and everyone in between.
