The Preserve directly abuts our property. By either following the shoreline along the lake or walking north on Crockett Ridge Road for ¼ mile, you can access the trail network. The Preserve also connects to the Witt Swamp Preserve and the Witt Swamp Extension for a trail network of about 4.5 miles of easy walking to moderate walking. The most difficult part of the walk is down our hill to the waterfront, if you choose to go that way. Mountain biking is permitted on the trails. Trail races and yoga classes and the Winter Festival in February are a few of the activities offered at the Preserve. For more information about the Preserve, see https://www.wfltmaine.org/shepards-farm

Lake

Follow the path mowed through the grass to the lake. There are two canoes and three kayaks on a rack available for your use. After use, please take the boats out of the water and return them to the rack. Please do not leave paddles and PFDs at the waterfront. The water depth off our dock is 3-ft to 5-ft, so be careful when swimming. Given the depth, diving off the dock is not permitted. No lifeguard is on duty, so swimming is at your own risk. A 16-ft wide culvert/bridge on Crockett Ridge Road allows for boat travel, including pontoon boats, from the lower lake (where our dock is) to the larger and deeper portion of the lake. Norway Lake Marina is located off Route 118 and rents pontoon boats, skiffs for fishing, as well as canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. You can contact them at (207) 595-2242. You are welcome to bring your own boat and tie off at our dock. A public boat launch is located off Route 118 near Norway Lake Marina. White’s Marina is directly across the lake from our dock and offers sales and service of boats. Pennesseewassee Beach is available to the public and is located on the southwestern side of the lake for those looking for more of a sandy beach area. A playground area at the beach is great for children. No lifeguard is on duty, so swimming is at your own risk.
