The Archaeological Museum of Syros was founded in 1834 and is one of the oldest museums in Greece. Since 1899 it has been housed in four rooms of the City Hall of Ermoupolis and offers an independent entrance from the historic Miaouli Square. In the museum area there is an exhibition of archaeologist Christos Tsountas.

the museum hosts a collection of tools, equipment and machines of the golden industrial age from laboratories of lute, textiles, tanneries, printing, machining, glassmaking, as well as a digital image and sound file with workers' testimonies, maps and drawings, a three-dimensional representation of industrial buildings findings from the sinking of steamed Patris. Among the exhibits is the legendary Enfield 8000, the first electric car manufactured in Greece.

The Museum is located on the island of Asiros, giving visitors the opportunity to travel through the eyes and the life of this beloved rebetiko, through his own photographs, his personal objects, manuscripts and lyrics, as well as a half hour documentary.
