It’s located at the end of the Mayo peninsula where Thomas Point Lighthouse, a signature landmark is within view. The park offers lovely vistas, a beautiful shoreline with beaches that may be used by the public on designated open days for swimming in the summer season, shaded picnic tables, cartop canoe & kayak launching, rental facilities for weddings and other types of gatherings, play areas, and open space.
Reservations using the website YourPassNow will go live Monday, May 24th and each Monday at 9:00 AM prior to the upcoming weekend AND only the upcoming weekend will be available for a reservation.

A parking lot and a children’s playground are located at the Thomas A. Dixon Observation Area on 1911 Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie. Several scenic views of the BWI Airport are found along this loop trail. A spur trail from BWI Trail at Andover Road leads to the Linthicum Light Rail Station. Both Trails are open dawn to dusk.

The park serves as the headquarters for the Anne Arundel County Trail System and is part of the East Coast Greenway, a national trail stretching from Maine to Florida.
Patrons can enjoy amenities such as no entrance fee, picnic tables, a fire pit, indoor public restrooms, a drinking fountain and a beach for sunning or launching hand-carried craft. Fishing is allowed 24-7 on the pier, the extension of the old road bed, but the park itself closes at dusk. Due to a strong undercurrent and deep shelf, swimming is not permitted.
