The best Mexican food in North Denver! This is not your simple taqueria as the family is from the Central state of Puebla. You will find authentic dishes such as Mole homemade from chocolate, chile and spices over chicken. Also, hard-to-find Mexican dishes such as Chile en Nogada--a poblano chile stuffed with pomegranates and spiced chopped beef in a cranberry and raspberry sauce. Boasts a full bar.

It is on the corner of our block. This iconic Italian restaurant and bar is always packed for dinner and is happening on the weekends. It is a good late night spot and a good launching ground. It was the meeting ground for the old North Denver Italian Mafia and many of the houses in the immediate vicinity were built with underground tunnels to meet their needs.

One of the coolest places to hang out. It is built in the shape of a giant milk can. They always have new flavors of ice cream. Aside from the family-friendly Hirshorn Park across the street, this is the place to see and be seen on "the scene." You may stand in line for half-an-hour to an hour to engage in people watching and to socializing in the afternoon, in the evening before going out for the night or later in the evening as a start to your night. It is nestled between two good restaurants and bars, Linger and Lola's.

This wine and craft beer shop is just a few doors down from our house. The wine, whiskey and mezcal selections are great. Even more surprising is the beer room hidden behind the wine wall. The owner Mark is the nicest guy around and is sure to engage you in great conversation about his spirits.

This is a spiritual place where the Cheyenne and Arapahoe tribes would meet for ceremony and business. It really is the origin of Denver despite the warnings by the natives to the European settlers that they should not make permanent settlements due to the way that smoke would fail to dissipate. Now you can kayak, hear live music or just buy a hotdog or coffee at REI and chill. on hot days you can wade into the river for some fun in the sun!

This is a real old-school amusement park. The train still chugs around the lake, the carousel still creaks, and the rollercoaster still shakes in this amusement park that must be near 100 years old! It is almost the opposite of Elitch Gardens which has the newer Six Flags-style rides and the corporate gloss.
