Food scene

The Fleece Inn in Bretforton is over 500 years old and owned by the National Trust. It is truly historic in character with oak beams, flagstone floors and inglenook fireplaces providing warmth and cheer in the colder months. In the summer months the garden and cider apple orchard are a delightful setting for socialising and sampling the local real ales and ciders. The food is pretty amazing too - locally sourced and delicious. Throughout the year there are many events held here. For example: traditional Morris dancing, performances by the Bretforton Silver Band (the only remaining village silver band in the whole of Worcestershire). The local delicacy is celebrated with National Asparagus Day on 23rd April at the Fleece - not to be missed! In addition there are regular music gigs in the barn, open air theatre in the garden in the summer and many other fun events. The best news is that it is a 4 minute walk from here. So once your car is parked safely no ned to worry about 'drinking and driving'. Hurrah!

This is my favourite cafe in Stow-on-Wold. The food is scrummy and the atmosphere friendly and calm. It is run by Alan and his wife Jackie and they do everything themselves. The food is freshly prepared to order and all home cooked. It is very popular so a good idea to book beforehand.
