5 miles from the Inn on hwy 54 this is another close dining option. Authentic Mexican food, nothing fancy as far as decor goes but the News and Observer rates it one of the top ten restaurants in the Triangle. Also written up in Saveur magazine. Waits can be long and seating is limited but you can always get it to go and enjoy dining outside at the Inn.

Nicer Dinners

Hawthorne and Wood New on the scene in Chapel Hill and quickly becoming one of my favorite places. You can have a casual dinner in the bar area or nicer dining at a table. Chef Brandon Sharp has Chapel Hill roots and returned to the area after several years in Napa. Fresh ingredients presented in a delicious and beautiful way.
Pan-Asian restaurant, relaxing Zen atmosphere, fun bar in the back and lovely outdoor space. The dumplings are scrumptious and the Korean fried chicken appetizer is the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. Gourmet Magazine rated it one of the top 50 restaurants in the U.S. Andrea Reusing the chef won the James Beard award. Reservations recommended. This is our go to nice dinner spot.
