Trohornet

Trohornet 649 m. (645) Engeløya - Steigen Easy hike on a dry and well-marked trail. Fill waterbottles down in a small river in the beginning of the trip (no rivers or streams in the mountains). This hike takes you up to Engeløya's highest mountain, which Trohornet is. Here starts the path which is also marked with signs "Trohornet" roadside. The trail is good. The first few hundred elevation few meters walk through beautiful birch forest that gradually flattens out while the vegetation diminishes and the view reveals itself. Up on the 300M you about the forest border and you get an incredibly beautiful mountainous amountainous area that opens up to you.

Salten Museum - Steigen Folk Museum

Steigen Bygdetun (open 24.June - 20.August) Steigen Bygdetun is a place where you can enjoy the delicious tranquility of old days. Take a stroll from the parsonage down to the museum. On the trip through the vicarage gardens with its ancient trees, and down the avenue past the burial mounds from the Viking Age to the Board Tunets old houses and lush perennial border, you might feel going back in time. Bygdetunet is built around the old doctoral farm Breidablikk from 1877. It serves in summer delicious cakes and griddle cakes that you can enjoy in the garden or in the doctor's fine rooms.

Batterie Dietl is one of Europe's largest coastal fortifications from the 2nd World War. Here stood three of the world's countries attach cannons, firing shells with a diameter of 40.6 cm. Maximum range on the whole 56 km. The fort guarded the entrance of the Vestfjord and the important shipping traffic to Narvik, where iron ore from Sweden was retrieved and brought to Germany's arms factories. It is located in a stunning natural setting. A varied coastal landscape with rocks, bays, small sandy beaches and a rich growth of mountain and coastal plants, which have begun to heal the wounds in the landscape. An area that provides ample opportunities for recreation and nature experiences.
