Neighborhoods

Great little Western town with a lively arts scene & a cowboy vibe! 30 minutes north of the cabin Definitely try and spend a whole day here. There are fun shops & great thrifting, funky old school bars, a couple of fun restaurants. Historic, fun town. They say "it is a drinking town with a wind problem!". Known for hurricane force winds at any time of the year!

Hiking

Always carry BEAR SPRAY & know how to use it!
Length: 1.2 miles round-trip Duration: 30 minutes Difficulty: Easy Elevation Gain: 250 feet Activities: Hiking, mountain biking, trail running, cross-country skiing Crowds: Heavy traffic About Palisade Falls is located south of Bozeman in the Hyalite Recreation Area, just beyond the reservoir. The trail begins at the East Fork of Hyalite Creek, then follows a tributary for approximately half a mile to a bridge fronting the falls. Palisade Falls is a towering cataract dropping more than 80 feet off a vertical rock wall at the southern base of Palisade Mountain. The trail is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible, mostly paved, and features picnic tables at the trailhead. Seasonal Conditions This is a great, easy trail during the heat of summer, when the falls and dense forest keep hikers, bikers, and runners cool. The trail can get slick during winter, but good traction or a pair of cross-country skis make for an easy winter outing.

easy to moderate. 1.25 miles uphill to the falls through pines
Length: 10 miles (round-trip) Duration: 6 hours Difficulty: Moderate to difficult (very difficult in snow and mud) Elevation Gain: 3,400 feet Activities: Hiking, backpacking Crowds: Moderate traffic About Pine Creek Lake is set in a huge glacial cirque below the north slope of Black Mountain. The trail to the lake is well-defined and meanders through forest en route to the base of Pine Creek Falls. Past the falls, the trail becomes steep and strenuous, continuing past a series of smaller waterfalls and two small lakes before reaching Pine Creek Lake, where great views and a well-earned rest await. If you're feeling frisky, head on up another two miles and 1,800 vertical feet to Black Mountain for incredible views of Paradise Valley and the Beartooth Plateau. NOTE: Black mountain is only for very experienced adventurers! Very steep with loose rocks. rock climbing experience suggested if you want to summit black mountain
