Since Lisbon is full with normal coffees, you don't see many modern cappuccino design cafés. In a portuguese café, you will not be able to order the italian cappuccino and you will surprise others by unpacking your laptop.

Great street to enjoy authentic portuguese little stores, bookshops, cafés and bars. I recommend to walk up that street all the way to the metro station Rato. This area has a lot to offer and is not overloaded by tourists.

Besides travel guides and maps it has high quality poetry in portuguese and english. You can tell that they consider carefully which books they sell and know the content. This bookshop is in the charming authentic street "Rua São Bento".

Old picknick park of the Aristocrats of Portugal. In front it is flat grass with some palm trees. Further in the back are big areas filled with giant cactuses.
On sundays in June 2016 there will be free Jazz concerts in the park.

There are several supermarkets. Lidl, Mini Preco and Pingo Doce are the most common chains. But there are also small shops run by portuguese and bangladeshi immigrants. Last ones are also open at lunch time and in the late evenings.

It is not too far to walk to Cais de Sodré or you can take the tram or bus. From there you can use the metro system.
