Great Pizzeria, one of the top five in Ireland. Has absolutely great atmosphere with very friendly and efficient staff, a personal favourite of ours, but would recommend making a reservation in advance as it is very popular! Also easy to get to as is just 2 minutes from the Bray train station for those drivers that would like a drink beer/wine! (our house is just 5 minutes walk from Shankill station).

This lovely French bakery is a favourite of ours! If you would like fresh Chocolate Croissants or Pains au Chocolate, or just a Baquette, this would be where I would recommend.!

For that special night out, I would recommend this restaurant. Although it is expensive, if you are looking for something for a special occasion, the food here is really good! Expect to pay about 60 euros per head for the early bird menu, not cheap!!!

Drinks & Nightlife

This is quite a nice pub in the heritage village of Dalkey. We would tend to go here to meet up with friends on Saturday nights. The food is of a decent standard. This Pub can get busy on Saturday nights, so if you are looking for atmosphere, that would be the time to go. I wouldn't suggest it as a place for young children during busy periods!

Trinity College Dublin is Ireland's oldest university and is located in the middle of the city. It is very popular with tourists. It is also the place where you will find the magnificent "Book of Kells". This priceless manuscript if of particular importance within Irish culture.

At just 90 minutes from Dublin by car, Belfast would be a great place to visit (even for just 1 day). As this is where the world famous ship 'Titanic' was built, there is an excellent 'Titanic Quarter' which will be of interest to anyone who is curious about this world famous liner.

Parks & Nature

The Cliffs of Moher are just magnificent to see. As Europe's highest sea cliffs at nearly 700 feet, the views of the Atlantic Ocean battering the base of the cliffs are just spectacular. The Cliffs of Moher have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you go to visit them, you won't be disappointed, but make sure you travel there on a sunny day!! It will take you about 3 hours to get here from Dublin.

This park is great if you want to go for a run, remain nearb, but would like cycle, walk or just people watch. With a playground for younger children, this is always popular with families.

Essentials

We would tend to get our everyday essentials here, such as Milk, bread. It is just a few minutes drive from the house. Depending on the time of day, it can be tricky getting parking as there are only 8 parking spaces.

Entertainment & Activities

As cinema's go, this one is nice. With a good selection of movies, this is the nearest one that I would recommend.

Getting Around

If you are planning on going into Dublin city for the day, this is how I would recommend you go. As this alleviates any parking difficulties you might encounter. At just five minutes from our house, this is the most relaxing way to travel and my personal favourite, with beautiful sea views along the way!

The M50 is the main arterial route around Dublin and serves as the access point from Dublin to the rest of the country, so if you are planning on going to Northern Ireland or the Cork in the south of the country, this will be your starting point. Luckily for us living in Shankill, our accss to the M50 is only 5 minutes drive away. Do avoid peak travel times, as traffic does get quick heavy!!
