The story says that during a hearing at Heggdal in Innvik, early in the 16th century, a foot was wedged whole between the wall of the hearing room and a large stone slab that was used as a hearing table. The killer's name was Helje Bagge. He escaped and hid in a hole in Ulvedalsfjellet, and lived there for three years. His wife rowed across the fjord in secret to ensure that he got food that was placed at the agreed place. Helje was to be freed from his infidelity if he would go to Selje and kill a criminal who was hiding in Selje monastery. Helje went along with her son and killed this man and then became a free man. Until the middle of this century, no one had found the mountain cave that was told about in this centuries-old legend. After she was found, stairs and ladders were built that make it possible for everyone to see the cave and the surrounding wild mountains.

Stryn sommerski is an alpine center on Strynefjellet. Between Stryn and Gudbandsdalen, 45 km east of Stryn sentrun. The ski center is located along county road 258, known as the old Strynefjellsvei. This is a national tourist route. The road is closed for winter from late October to the end of May. The center is located on Tystigbreen and offers many experiences in the summer snow. The 1,000-metre chair lift brings you up to 1,300 meters above sea level in the glacier basin, where there are opportunities for both downhill and free riding at your own risk. We have a great terrain park. Stryn has a drop height of a total of 290 meters from the chair lift. The Brerekket, which was an offer in the past, is no longer an offer. The glacier has changed so much that it is not possible to set it up where it has stood before. We can offer catskiing in periods, where you are transported up to 1,800 m.a.s.l. and then have a spectacular ride back down. This offer lasts as long as there is enough snow to drive safely.

The ski slopes start from the 1,487 meter long T-cork lift Hornindalsheisen, one of the longest ski lifts in Norway, and the new 500 meter long plate lift SpareBank 1 Rekrutten. From the top of the Hornindal lift at 750 m.a.s.l. we have two groomed main runs of 1,650 metres: Fossehenget on the west side and Tverrløypa on the east side. The latter with floodlights all the way, which makes it the longest illuminated descent in Nordfjord/Sunnmøre. Several parallel tracks and different descents provide a large selection of variations and degrees of difficulty. Hornindal Ski Center is considered to be one of the region's most snow-sure ski centers. Combined with snow production, we plan for a good ski season for our guests. The area offers large areas suitable for free riding and is a good starting point for many different summit tours.
