Trails close to the house
Hiking
This is a public parking lot that gives access to the surrounding forest and trails, great for off the grid exploring. Only 3 minutes by car from Ridgewood. The gate is sometimes closed, I think they are still doing work, but you can just park in front of it and walk around. The south east end of the parking lot, by the accessible parking ramp, is the entrance to the trails.

The Headwaters Forest entrance is only a mile or two as the crow flies, but you have to drive down the hill and around to get to the entrance. This is a public, well maintained trail and animals are allowed on leash. There is a parking lot at the entrance and trail maps.

It goes for miles and the plan is for it to eventually connect all the way back to the Ridgewood house. This is under a 10 minute drive, there is street parking near the entrance, no lot.
