One of the biggest attractions in Ajax is the Ajax Casino, which boasts 900 slot machines. But it also has so much more than that, like electronic blackjack, baccarat and roulette. The entire casino is completely electronic, with points being converted into cash when you leave. They also have weekly promotions, like draws for points or cash. The casino is open every day of the year 24 hours a day! There is even a restaurant on site that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Paradise Beach sits along the Waterfront Trail, but it is an attraction all on its own. It is the town’s main beach area and is a great place to spend a sunny day. The beach is public, although there are many cottages in the area, some of which are owned by well-to-do Torontonians. Still, it is a friendly strip of waterfront that is great for the whole family. The beach is backed by Paradise Park and its grasslands, trees and picnic tables. There are also benches close to the water where visitors can sit, relax and take in the scenery.

In addition to the parks along the Waterfront Trail, Ajax is also home to the Greenwood Conservation Area. Nature lovers will be in heaven exploring this area of town. The Greenwood Conservation Area is home to forests, grasslands and a network of hiking trails. The trails are marked with signage that not only lead the way, but also tell hikers of the wildlife and heritage of the area. Go hiking or cross-country skiing along its trails, or enjoy a picnic lunch. It is even possible to go fishing along the creek, which is filled with rainbow trout.

Avid golfers will not be bored here, as there are some great places to play golf in Ajax. In fact, there are four golf courses right in the town, as well as a few others in neighbouring areas. Deer Creek Golf Club is arguably the best of the bunch, what with its two courses that are known all over the province. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines, while its par 71 championship course is often used for tournaments. There is also the 18-hole course at the Annandale Golf & Curling Club and the Riverside Golf Club’s 9-hole course. Those that want to golf with their kids should be sure to go to the family-run Carruther’s Creek Golf and Country Club.

COMING UP>>> Porsche Experience Centre (PEC). Only the tenth in the world and third of its kind in North America after Atlanta and Los Angeles, the future Porsche Experience Centre Toronto will be located on a 20-acre site at the “Durham Live” development in Pickering, Ontario, which currently features a casino, and will include a concert venue, more than 400,000 square feet of retail space, and a luxury hotel with more than 300 rooms. PEC Toronto is slated to open by 2024. “Porsche is more than just a car. Porsche is a promise for a unique brand and product experience and since the first opening in Silverstone in 2008, our Porsche Experience Centres are the best way to get this promise,” says Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “Nowhere else in the automotive industry, the soul of our sports cars can be lived that way. I couldn’t be happier that we can now announce the 10th location of its kind in Toronto – the fastest-growing city in North America with an ever-greater community of Porsche fans.” “Canadians will no longer have to leave the country in order to visit a Porsche Experience Centre,” said Marc Ouayoun, President and CEO, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. “Customers and brand enthusiasts will have the chance to experience Porsche with their head, heart, and hands – all in the Greater Toronto Area where around a 500-km radius nearly 100 million people live, offering access within an hour’s flight.” The first “urban” version of the worldwide concept, PEC Toronto will be a brand park and major tourist destination where visitors can experience vehicle dynamics, technology, and emotion first-hand with expert guidance from Porsche instructors through various driving modules all year long and within a 30-minute drive of downtown Toronto. This domestic and international tourist destination will include a driving circuit over 2 kilometres in length, designed by Tilke Engineering to highlight the technological prowess of our two- and four-door sports cars – in their ideal playground. This will allow customers and fans to immerse themselves in the world of Porsche regardless of whether they own one or not.
