The must do walk in the area. My personal favourite is to ascend via the Rhyd Ddu path which can be linked up with a descent via the Snowdon Ranger. The Watkin path is also a delightful route but not for the faint hearted as it has the longest climb and a steep scramble to the summit. For accessing the Miners’ and Pyg track you must arrive at the Pen y Pass car park by 07:00 during the summer months to guarantee a parking space. Starting so early has the added benefit of the summit being nice and quiet. For the super keen it’s possible to walk from the house, along the river to the Watkin path, climb to the summit of Snowdon, descend via the southern ridge and then summit Y Arran before dropping back down to the village. It’s a long trip but a super satisfying loop from the house.
