Sightseeing

Great place for adults and kids even if you aren't a car buff. I like the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car best. There are special exhibitions, a decent cafe. This year they are extending the children's part but can't yet comment on that.

Park in Beaulieu and walk along the river to Bucklers Hard (approx 1 1/2 miles). The village was created to build ships for Henry V111's navy using wood from the forest. Its a great place to visit, good for picnics, there is a pub and a decent restaurant.

We LOVE this place kids can go wild we can either join them or sit in the sun. There is a small food booth good sausage and chips and coffee an ice cream. It can get very busy and sun shades can get scarce. There is a cheaper admission starting in the afternoon. Its a unique setting and near the RNLI station and shop and the yacht clubs car parking. For kids who still have energy there is a play park fairly near.

Keyhaven and Hurst Castle are lovely places to spend a day. If you are a good walker follow the coastal path from Lymington (or start at The Hayloft) and walk all the way down the spit to Hurst Castle at the end (note the only cafe at the end of this walk is if you pay to go into the castle). If you can't face the walk back catch the Ferry from Keyhaven. You could just drive to Keyhaven there is public parking a pub called The Gun and you can do mackerel fishing, walk the spit or catch the ferry to the spit.

Well if you have nursery or primary school age kids this is wonderful. Some of the rides are scary enough for teenagers too but its not Thorpe Park (thank goodness). Peppa Pig land is in one side of the park, lots of places to picnic, as well as the rides there are animals - penguin feeding is my fav. There is a train and a fun water spraying park. The train ride is nice for the littlys and there is entertainment on main lawn if you need to have a rest.Staff are really friendly and its not totally money grabbing as some theme parks. There is a gift shop not too badly priced so pocket money can be spent.

Owned by John Ilsley of Dire Straits fame who stepped in to save the local pub. It has a small public bar very friendly. The restaurant is larger and serves great food (best to book). There is a small outdoor garden. You can walk there and back from The Hayloft public footpath through the fields or cycle on the road.

Lovely hotel and restaurant just outside Brockenhurst. I love the walled garden where they grow their own produce and a paying a visit to the Pigs. They serve freshly made flatbreads from a wood oven over lunch and early afternoon on their patio. Restaurant is lovely and is suitable for vegetarians but is a pork lovers paradise. They and Lime Wood hold festivals in the summer Smoked and Uncut.

I love this cafe (in a garden centre). Its a lovely setting and really good food and cakes at a reasonable price. It does get busy but the staff are suer professional and helpful. Sunday lunch is very good. They do have some serving time restrictions and they don't budge on them - so a limited menu later in the day. They also sell all sorts of lovely little things ornaments and food and things for the garden.
