The Redwood Forest has many trails, some which lead further into the Whakarewarewa Forest beyond. The short walks are sign-posted but you may need a map from the visitor centre for the longer walks.

The Waipa Mountain bike car park, with its outdoor cafe and other amenities, is the access point for many trails to ride or walk. You can also access trails from other points including a newer hub on Tarawera Road, close to the Lake Okareka turn off.
