SAM MATHEWS HOUSE ^ : AN HISTORIC TROPICAL INN

This gem is considered one of Stuart’s most significant historic homes built in 1913 by Sam Matthew’s as his personal residence. Matthews built the Hotel St. Lucie, Woodmen Hall in 1914, Stuart’s first bank, the Schroeder riverfront home, Kimberly Apartments in 1913, and many more of Stuart’s best. Stuart was incorporated on May 7, 1914 and Sam Matthews was selected one of Stuart’s first aldermen.This ‘key west style’ grand house has been a first class ‘bed and breakfast’ of late. The Guest Room & Back Deck

The Guest Room is a spacious 12X15 foot room. In addition, it has a huge 10X8 foot bathroom, a walk-in closet, and a 10X20 foot covered deck all for your private use. You have your own private entrance to your room, and the room is locked off from the rest of the house. There is a 4.7 cu. ft. refrigerator, a microwave, two hotplates, a coffee maker, a toaster, and a gas grill with a side burner. There is a spacious backyard that is more like a forest than a yard.
