The Bird's Nest - Cabin by the River

Located on one of the Seven Bends of the Shenandoah River, the Bird’s Nest is a brand new, custom built 800 square foot cabin featuring an open loft with king bed and skylights, steam shower, heated bathroom floor, and gas fireplace. Exterior amenities include a hot tub, gas grill, gas fire pit table, fire pit by the river, and private river access in a peaceful, wooded setting. Kayaks/tubes are available to use to float down the river with the unique ability to park/exit on the hosts’ property.

Welcome to Deer Rapids Retreat. This charming cabin is nestled on a large piece of land, lots of trees, open grass field and the comforting sounds of the Shenandoah River just feet away from your screened in porch. Enter via the wrap around deck to the screened porch. The river will be pulling you back out side fast, but you can relax in the living room, or grab a meal in the equipped kitchen. Walk 25 minutes to the river. Drive 10 minutes to the national park entrance and Skyline Drive. Roads are in excellent condition year-round. Your guest suite is on the ground floor, recently finished, with a private entrance (separate from the main house), with access to outdoor space, deck, swings, fire pit etc.

Since The Bunkhouse borders the George Washington National Forest you can simply walk thru the yard into the woods connecting to multiple hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails. The view from the multiple decks and the fire pit are spectacular. Elizabeth Furnace is nearby.

Walk through our wooded lot and you will see deer, squirrels, and Willy, our resident grandaddy groundhog (he loves apples if you want to bring him a treat.)
