Located in the friendly village of Brockholes near Holmfirth, accessible by train, it's perfect families and friends looking for a base for a short break. It's also a great base for working. Recently renovated, you'll find it attractive, cosy and well-equipped. The cottage sits across a cobbled courtyard from our house so we're here to help. Our historic cottage is nestled on the side of the dramatic Shibden valley, famous as the home of Ann Lister, 'Gentleman Jack'. Characterful, unique and secluded late 17th century grade-II listed weaver's cottage with private fenced garden situated in the suburb of Fartown 1.4 miles from Huddersfield town centre and train station. There are excellent links from the train station to Manchester airport, Leeds, York and London via Wakefield. Bus stops are close by (for Huddersfield and Bradford) and there is easy access to the M62 (approximately 2 miles away). Taxis are available from Huddersfield train station.

Once here, there’s lot to explore! Beautiful walks, award winning pubs (Shibden Mill). Follow in the footsteps of Anne Lister made famous in ‘Gentleman Jack’ or a trip to The Piece Hall, full of shops, bars & restaurants. Entertain the kids at Eureka or journey further to Howarth, home to the Brontes.

Old Piggery beautiful views. Dog friendly garden.

We converted the Old Piggery over 20 years ago, and have recently done a full refurbishment. It now has a cosy snug with a sofa as well as a lounge with far-reaching views. There is an ensuite bathroom and downstairs, a shower and toilet. The bedroom is on a mezzanine floor with a king-sized, chunky farmhouse bed with an extremely comfortable mattress. The lounge area has a Laura Ashley sofa and snuggle chair positioned to take in a far-reaching views or a 43 inch TV if you prefer!
