Pretty Victorian riverside cottage, Alstonefield

Dove Cottage is a former Victorian fishing lodge in a unique setting on the banks of the river Dove. It is situated 3/4 mile from the pretty village of Alstonefield and 5 1/2 miles north of the bustling market town of Ashbourne. The cottage overlooks a tranquil stretch of river running through Wolfscote Dale and a historic former water mill. A riverside footpath passes the bottom of the garden leading north along the river to Hartington and south to Dovedale and the Stepping Stones.

With plenty of footpaths, cycle trails and bridleways within walking distance, including the famous Tissington Trail. The Cottage has great views of the countryside, an enclosed garden/courtyard front & rear with seating areas, it also has a log burner for those colder evenings.

Our cottage is self contained and attached to our house. The gardens are shared with us but are very spacious. There is a sunken hot tub in the garden. Set in a tranquil Peak District village with local pub, there's a small shop in the pub that's open during pub opening hours. Perfect location for walkers, climbers or cyclists and there are several lovely National Trust houses, including Chatsworth, within easy driving distance. Ashbourne is our local market town.
